"The Five Best Short Subject Features of VIFF (Vancouver International Film Festival): #1: Commentary: On: This is a brilliant short piece from Toronto about a man who laments over a lost relationship, but what sets it apart from the norm is the decision to tell the story in a unique and original style ... by way of a special edition DVD, using menus and features to navigate the viewer through his head. Scene selections, storyboards, on-screen script notes and commentary over the action are just some of the devices used here, and at only [9] minutes it is one of the most creative shorts I've seen in years."

2000 Sovereign Award Best Film/Video Broadcast
Maiden Dreams is the award winning television documentary following the career of a thoroughbred racehorse as he developed from an untrained yearling into a top class champion.
The story focuses on a group of dedicated owners who waited 25 years to have a champion horse. Every year they bought one horse with the hopes that one day they might stand in the winner's circle of a top graded race. With the help of their devoted trainer, the owners finally saw their dreams come true, when they competed in Canada's crown jewel of racing, The Queens Plate.
Maiden Dreams was shot over the period of three years. During that time, more than 100 hours of footage was shot in locations such as Ontario, New York, Florida and Kentucky.
The documentary was broadcast by the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and was selected as the lead in to the world's most prestigious thoroughbred horse races, The Breeder's Cup.
In December 2000, Maiden Dreams won the prestigious 2000 Sovereign Award for Best Film/Video/Broadcast.

Quarantine is a short film of one man's lengthy stay in his basement apartment. This film is our comedic reaction against the media freak-out that has whipped the city of Toronto, Canada, North America and the World Health Organization in a paranoid frenzy. Shot in 16:9 Mini-DV, and cut on Final Cut Pro. This 9 minute film is lovingly referred to by the director/producers as the 7 day/40 dollar movie. Shot on a Monday, and cut by the following Monday, Quarantine is a healthy example of pure energetic dedication.

Although not an actual Paradox Pictures production, Rudolf Mammitzsch was both an associate producer and cinematographer on the film. Shot in super-16mm film, this feature length film was as much an experience to work on as it is to watch. Directed by Samuel K. Lee.
A quote found on the web: "...[a] surreal journey into the world of a voyeuristic artist who becomes enamored with a video artist who is also finding interest in his building. Following her around the city, however, leads our hero into a world of deceit and murder. He crosses paths with an evil dentist and his lackey who have concocted a plot to break people's teeth to drum up business. Unfortunately, our unnamed protagonist steals something which the thugs are after and enters an elaborate game of cat and mouse where the outcome is anyone's call".
